Lucha Libre in the UK is getting bigger!

It's no secret that the people behind the UK's most successful Pro wrestling and Cabaret Siniestro show, Lucha Britannia and the London School of Lucha Libre are in super high demand right now in the mainstream media and beyond!

Lucha Libre & pro wrestling in general is on an upwards swing in popularity with more television & media companies wanting to feature wrestling characters and actual wrestling on thier shows than ever before.

From Snog Marry Avoid to Big Brother to Take Me Out to Dont Tell the Bride to Wrestltalk Tv & many more in the pipeline, it seems that wrestlers are the newest darlings of primetime television and the trend is only just begginning!

At London School of Lucha Libre we are the most respected & contacted school in the UK for media enquires of all kinds, some of which we are not at liberty to discuss yet, but it's super exciting for the future of British wrestling!

There hasnt been a time in the past when the performance art & sports entertainment skills of  Lucha Libre have ever been in such high demand.

Head trainers here, Greg Burridge and Garry Vanderhorne, have been working tirelessly with other highly skilled and passionate professionals to develop some of the more gifted Luchadores into more versatile actors and stunt people, working on fight choreography and dynamic body positioning as well as facial expression and reaction tecniques: Strange as it may seem, incorporating the Stanislavski, Lee Strasberg and Sanford Meisner methods to their teachings!

Our training provides the people with the passion and dedication to develop their skills to the very highest levels so that we become a directors dream in front of the camera.
Equally being able to work to script or improvise, hit our marks and spots and most importantly be entertaining characters weather we are in a match, giving an interview or any other conceivable situation.

Vintage World of Sport star Tony Scarlo is guest Maestro at LSLL

At London School of Lucha Libre we dont just concentrate on the current trends, oh no.
To produce future stars we also have to look back to what has gone before and keep our Lucha skills a cut above the rest. To do this we pride ourselves on our great British wrestling legacy & are lucky enough to have amongst us one of the great unsung heroes of the bygone age, Tony Scarlo.

As you will see in the clips below, Tony was not a young man when he fought the Dynamite kid way back in 1977.!.
Tony Scarlo has been a trainer of British wrestling superstars for many years now & although in his mid 70's can still mix it up in the squared circle with the best of them!

We are proud to call Tony Scarlo one of our London School of Lucha Libre old school maestros and will be having him down to pass on his enormous wealth of British excellence once a month from now on.

Scarlo is also a familiar face on our TV screens in an acting role, as he is often one of the regulars in the Queen Vic on EastEnders!
He will be teaching an advanced technical chain wrestling class this coming Weds 30th May!

Here's Tony in his first match back 1977 on ITV's World Of Sport since 1969, putting over the Dynamite Kid in front of millions of veiwers.

Jonathan Ross joins London School of Lucha Libre & Lucha Britannia

It's no secret now that we've had the UK's most revered television personality come and have private sessions with us, yes, none other than Jonathan Ross is the latest of our high profile friends to step into the ring a learn the ropes at the London School of Lucha Libre!

In the weeks leading up to the UK's most important comic book & movie convention in London, Kapow! created by Mark Millar,  'Wossy' (Jonathan Ross) had been secretly working with Super Lucha trainers, Greg Burridge & Garry Vanderhorne of Lucha Britannia & the London School of Lucha Libre.

"Jonathan is a natural!" Said Burridge.
"We didnt have a lot of time to train him but he instinctually knew where to go & what to do. We made sure he could do everything that was needed for the angle he was in to look great & be safe.
There were hundreds of people screaming out & cheering for him as he stood up for the comic book fraternity & surprisingly took on the massive Lucha Britannia bully, Estupido"

Vanderhorne added:
"Jonathan knows all about drama, audience manipulation, crowd work, ad-libbing & comedy timing. That's why he's been at the top of his game in television for so many years!
We put him through a lot of stretching & warm ups, rolling & tumbling, jumping & bumping, psychology & selling.
He really understands & appreciates that pro wrestling is an art form & that with a little imagination, faith & budget, Lucha Libre wrestling entertainment in England could really take off big time.
For a guy in his fifties, he can really move well & we hope to be working with him much more in the coming months as he is going to be an integral force in getting British wrestling back on prime-time television.
I dont think anyone expected to see Jonathan Ross leaping from the top rope, delivering an impressive clothes line, take a beating & then knock Estupido down the way he did!
Were very proud of him"

The London School of Lucha Libre have also put a Loaded magazine journalist through the mill & surprisingly more & more actors, dancers, performers, circus people & burlesque folk are coming in for training.
One of the guys used his new Lucha skills last year in an amazing touring performance of Macbeth & is now in the west end in smash hit Warhorse!
Vanderhorne & Burridge are at the forefront of a new wave & direction in British wrestling, working on revamping  the British Wrestling Council, & in close collaboration with UK wrestling pioneer Alex Shane as well as other top line promotions like AAA & CMLL in Mexico, SPW & Solo in Spain, Wrestling With Ethics, FPW, Progress, IPWUK, FWA, NBW, ICW, & many more promotions across the UK.

So you want to become a Luchador???
Welcome to the UK's only dedicated Lucha Libre Wrestling School right in the heart of London.

Resistance Gallery, 265 Poyser Street, Bethnal Green. E29RF.

The 'London School of Lucha Libre' is a comprehensive and safe way of learning all about the art of Lucha Libre Wrestling.
Sponsored by the award winning Cabaret Siniestro wrestling show 'Lucha Britannia', and coached by the UK's most experienced wrestlers & trainers.

"Wrestling training is one of the greatest disciplines in the world because it teaches you so many different skills which you can take & use in everyday life.
Things like improved balance, confidence, coordination, timing, body conditioning, stamina, creative thinking, charisma, strength, kinesiology, physiology, body mechanics, stretching, posture, gymnastics, and of course real professional wrestling skills"
The extensive syllabus covers every aspect of professional wrestling with a focus on the more flamboyant style of the Mexican masked art form called Lucha Libre.
Lucha Libre, literally translated means 'Free Fight', which flamboyantly uses every possible fighting methodology, gymnastics, psychology and techniques available in the world to forge you into a real life superhero or villain in pro wrestling. (Tecnico or Rudo)
The school mixes the acrobatic style from Mexico with the traditional British style, covering both countries rich heritage of wrestling and splendour while also giving lots of  time to the North American and Japanese strong style of working.
The warm ups and fitness training circuits will be tough!
Studies not only show that circuit training is the most time efficient way to enhance cardiovascular fitness and muscle endurance but also that circuit training helps men and women to achieve their goals and maintain them longer than other forms of exercise or diet.
Head trainer, The Cockney Crusader, Greg 'Darren Baxter Pukka' Burridge, (Lucha Britannia's brutal, part man-part machine, Metallico!) is one of UK wrestling's most experienced and well respected proponents.
Burridge has wrestled all over the world and fought with WWE & TNA superstars such as Superfly Jimmy Snuka, Scott Steiner, Abyss, AJ Styles, Somoa Joe & many more, but more importantly he was one of the main people who trained one time Lucha Britannia & two time WWE world champion, Sheamus, before he went onto mega stardom in the States!
The school is co-run by Lucha Britannia creator & Britain's Lucha Libre expert, Garry Vanderhorne who has been a qualified fitness & martial arts instructor for 23 years, holds 9 coaching awards, & has performed in front of thousands of people all over the world, utilising entertainment, art, music, performance, production & fighting skills.

The London School of Lucha Libre is open to all men & woman over the age of 18 who want to learn the art of Lucha Libre wrestling... but you must have at least some viewing knowledge of what sports entertainment wrestling is !!!

Remember: Pro wrestling is a dangerous art form and hurts!!!
Our 'LSLL' instructors and Lucha Britannia wrestlers are of the very highest standards with years of training and performance experience.
Don’t try this at home, in the street, the park or in the work place!!!
